Until further notice, updates will now return to Longacres Blog
Sorry for missing two days of “Updates” – we are home at Longacres and will post a LONG update later today, including the official “Welcome” to Mya.
Little ones, that is. Check out the picture of Tom enjoying a visit to a miniature railroad south of Nashville on the way home. We will be back at Longacres in a few hours after breakfast this morning. Dinner soon, Uncle Billy?
We had a great time meeting Mya and her mom, Susan, this evening. They emailed first thing this morning to tell us they were ready to sign up at Longacres. We emailed back to set up one of Meghan’s long orientation phone calls. I sent off that email and then looked at our road map.
I turned to Meghan and said, “You know what? We’re going to be traveling RIGHT through Mya’s town tonight!”. So we emailed again, and sure enough they were available to have dinner with us. It was a perfect chance to get to know a new Longacres student. Mya has been riding for some time and has done some good sized jumps. She is looking for more advanced training and new riding challenges. She likes everything about caring for horses, too. She will be at Longacres from June 4th to 16th.
Below: Mya, Meghan, and Susan
We send out “Hello’s” to Mya C. and to Natalia’s sister who are both interested in attending our June sessions!
We enjoyed nature’s fireworks last night as heavy thunder storms passed through near Cincinatti. We’re only about a long day’s drive from home now, after coming through Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana. We’ll cross most of Ohio today and then a sliver of Pennsylvania and New York tomorrow morning. Then back to work at Longacres.
Karina
We had a good talk with former Longacres student Karina Busch yesterday after passing by her horse farm in Kentucky. Karina was at Longacres a little over 20 years ago and was a regular rider of “Tip-off”, one of the greatest jumpers in Longacres history. To this day, nobody but myself (long ago!) has ever jumped higher than Karina did back then at Longacres, when they cleared 5’3″ for a Longacres promotional video. When we get home I plan to do a longer writeup about Karina, who is now living every girl’s dream on her own horse farm.
We’re enjoying a morning on the way home to East Aurora wandering off the beaten track. We’re having breakfast at a McDonalds in Bolivar, Tennessee. In the following picture I just took, you can see that they set aside several parking spots just for RV’s – only thing is . . . Well, you can see!
